A Brief History About Amazing Grace Lutheran Church

Amazing Grace Lutheran Church was prayed into being on January 4, 1998 when two smaller Lutheran churches St. Stephen and Holy Redeemer decided to take the bold step in faith to consolidate their ministries. Both former congregations had existed since the 1960’s, and neither church was dying, but neither church was thriving. With courage and faith, the two churches came together to do more and better ministry together.

The goal was to make Amazing Grace a seven day a week Ministry Center driven to Share the Awesome Love of Jesus with all who need to hear it. And we are well on our way to reaching that goal.

In September, 2002, we completed work on a 5,000 square foot addition—including a new Worship Center, lobby, church office, and bathrooms—as well as remodeling much of our existing space. We are proud of the result. We have tried to create a space that is warm, inviting, and functional. Our worship space combines the best of traditional and contemporary architecture. Our custom built altar-font, made from stone, reminds us of the past, while the dual media screens and sound system offer the latest in multi-sensory worship.

The consolidation of the former churches into a new, vibrant congregation sets us free to investigate and try new and exciting ministries. We are proud of our history, but we are convinced that the best years for Amazing Grace are ahead of us!
