Advent Pot Luck and Worship
Each Wednesday at 6:00 pm during Advent we take
time away from the hectic holiday rush to enjoy a Pot Luck dinner with our church community.
The casual dinner is followed by an uplifting worship service at 7:00 pm.
Ash Wednesday Worship
The season of Lent begins with an Ash Wednesday
Worship, a very powerful service, in which we are called to openly face our need for Jesus'
forgiveness. This service includes the traditional imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.
Christmas Eve Services
Amazing Grace offers two worship experiences on
Christmas Eve. The 5:00 pm service features musical leadership by A Perfect Grace. The 10:00 pm
service features our Choir. Both are candlelight services. Childcare is provided at the
5:00 pm service.
Good Friday Ecumenical Service
Amazing Grace participates in an annual ecumenical
observance of Good Friday which commemorates Jesus' seven last words on the cross. The service
is hosted by Madison Heights United Methodist Church on 11 Mile Rd. at John R.
Good Friday Service
The Easter weekend activities at Amazing Grace begin
with a moving and dramatic service as we contemplate Jesus' death on the cross.
Healing Services
Because we believe in the healing power of prayer,
Amazing Grace offers a regular opportunity for worshippers to receive a laying on of hands for
healing. This service also includes anointing and individual prayers.
Lenten Soup Suppers and Worship
Each Wednesday evening during Lent we gather to share
a simple soup supper together as a community at 6:00 pm. A reflective, inspirational worship
service follows the dinner at 7:00 pm. Volunteers are needed for clean-up and to donate soups
and breads.
Maundy Thursday Dinner and Worship
Our Holy week events include a Maundy Thursday
soup supper at 6:00 pm followed by an informal, yet very moving worship at 7:00 pm gathered
around the table. This reminds us of the night that Jesus gathered His disciples around the
table for the "Last Supper." Volunteers are needed for set-up and clean-up, as readers,
and to donate soups and breads.
Mission Partner Revival
Each fall, Mission Partner congregations sponsor
and Truth Lutheran hosts a multi-day revival in the African-American tradition. Events include
Bible studies, dinners and energetic worship, featuring a guest preacher, Amazing Grace
volunteers are needed to participate with planning, music, set-up, clean-up, contributions of
food and financial support.
Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service
The Warren Area Ministers Association sponsors an
Ecumenical Thanksgiving service each year, which is open to the public. Area churches rotate
hosting. Amazing Grace was the host church in 2002. The Warren Community Chorus under the
direction of Kingsley Sears provides musical leadership for the service.
Thanksgiving Eve Worship
Amazing Grace offers its own worship service the
night before Thanksgiving to give thanks for all the blessings of the past year. Our adult
choir provides musical leadership.
